Richard Chichakli Responds to the Charges

Richard Chichakli, the only other person besides Viktor Bout to be named in the newest US Indictment, has personally responded to the 9 charges in this new video.

Richard wants the viewers to believe him based on his character (he served in the US Army, he is a father of 2 children, he coached a soccer team), the idea that he was too busy with his CPA firm to have managed the day-to-day operations of an airline, and that the actual date of his being blacklisted differs from that stated in the indictment, supposedly meaning that he could not have been guilty of something that wasn't even illegal yet.

And the Judge Decides .......

....... to not allow the documents submitted by the prosecutors to be considered in the decision to extradite Viktor Bout or allow him to go back home. Additionally, Viktor Bout's request for bail was denied. While there was no big decision made today, there are positive and negative implications in it for the man, VB.

+ + + +
+ The rejected documents had a very negative view of Viktor Bout.
+ This is the second "loss" for the American side, after the Thai court denied the US's request for Viktor Bout's extradition last year.

- Viktor goes back to the barely-livable conditions of the Klong Prem Prison. While the Thai officers working there are always kind and helpful, the conditions on the inside are undesirable. It is unknown how long the appeal court will deliberate, but they should issue an indication a month before the decision is to be made. My own estimate is that it will be another 3-5 months before we hear anything again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I again review the reports from the mass media, the official indictment from the US District Court, and even watch the Lord of War movie again (guilty as charged!), I am still suprised at how he has become the only person charged with these crimes.

Viktor Goes to Court

It has been confirmed that VB will appear at the Central Criminal Court (San-a-ya, Ratchada, Bangkok) on Tuesday, February 16. Right now, we don't know the reason, but we'll keep you up to date on the continuing story. There hasn't been any indication that the big decision will be announced, but anything is possible.
